Best: Amelia Rainbow, Isabelle Evans, Lola Savala, Genevieve Hynes, Oasis Huender, Macy Neyland

Goals: Genevieve Hynes, Friyana Mistry, Amelia Rainbow, Poppi Flanders, Leila Clark

Coach's comments: Craig Tidemann

“The main message to the players was improvement and to play your role. We wanted to play the Swans Academy way, and they were really good at following instructions, listening to direction and they really delivered today. We wanted to use the corridor efficiently so that we didn’t go wide into the wind. Even that is difficult to be efficient in scoring but I think we did great in that regard."

U14 boys - defeated by Giants Academy

QBE Sydney Swans Academy 3.7.25

Giants Academy 9.8.62

Coach's comments: Randall March

"All the boys know they need to be better and be first to the contest, stick their tackles and work the ball through the corridor - so they know what they needed to do but didn't quite execute it on the day. They need to take their skill work and teamwork up to another level. They just weren't clean today, we certainly have the ability to work the ball up forward and outscore the opposition, it was just that our execution was down today."

U13 Girls - defeat Giants Academy

QBE Sydney Swans Academy 6.15.51

Giants Academy 2.3.15

Best: Emily Hollingsworth, Lily Davidson, Tiffany Tomlinson, Marley Vella, Imogen Walsh, Bree Hirst

Goals: Emily Hollingsworth, Scarlett Hawtin, Alexis Dee, Olivia Huggins

Coach's comments: Kristie Whittard

“From a development perspective we’re really excited. We knew that in the second game the Giants would come out and bring a challenge. Their shape around the footy was outstanding, particularly with one out the back, and at half-time our girls were locked in nice and tight but we were able to open it up using our natural run and carry and our ability to come around the footy and outnumber.

"A series like this gives us an opportunity to look at the talent coming through but it’s an opportunity for them to develop. We were big on making sure that they play to their natural game but also make sure they’re ticking off their boxes in what they want to achieve from their footy moving forward. It was good opportunity for them to play at this level and match it with the best as opposed to being dominant in their local league."

Coach's comments:

"After yesterday's game (30 point loss) we had a look at what we did well and what we would like to improve for today's game. We discussed our team structure, and some basic game plans to manage a skilful Giants team in the windy conditions.

"I was so proud of the boys. They didn't panic despite being down by four goals at half time. We went into the rooms and refined our plan for the second half, understanding that a strong third quarter into the wind. With the boys coming together to execute the plan we were able to overrun the Giants in the third quarter kicking three goals followed up with another three goals in the final quarter. I am really proud of them for that win."

Matches continue tomorrow with the U14s and U15s in action.
