Our 2024 campaign continues when we play West Coast for the HMAS Sydney II Commemorative Trophy and Gun Shell Gallantry Trophy in the Adelaide Hills.

With tickets to our Round 4 clash sold out, the best way to catch all the action is at one of our Swans Friendly Venues OR tune in free-to-air on 7mate or stream via Fox Footy or Kayo Sports.

Four more for James Rowbottom

Tough midfielder James Rowbottom will remain with the Sydney Swans until at least the end of 2028, inking a four-year contract extension with the club.

Rowbottom was originally drafted with pick 25 in 2018, making his debut against Richmond the following year and going on to play 97 games for the club so far.

Injury Update

In this week's injury update it was revealed veteran defender Dane Rampe is expected to miss three to four weeks after suffering a low grade hamstring injury in Round 3. 

Harry Cunningham's recovery from his concussion is progressing well and will be a test to play this weekend against West Coast.

Longmire: "We put the foot down for every game because you have to."

Senior coach John Longmire appeared in a weekly press conference on Wednesday and shared insight into team preparations ahead of Round 4. 

Speaking on the team's mentality heading into the match against West Coast he said, “For those that have known me over a long time, we put the foot down for every game because you have to. It's just such a tough, close competition.

"Our challenge is to make sure we come with enormous pressure this week, get enormous pressure around the ball, put enormous pressure on West Coast, and go as hard as we can.”

VFLW kicks off this week

For the first time the Sydney Swans will participate in the VFLW competition which kicks off this weekend. The club will play play five matches against VFLW clubs from Round 3 to 7 of the home-and-away season and provide important playing opportunities for the young side.
