After a bye in Round 5 the Sydney Swans are back at the SCG this Sunday when they go head-to-head with the Gold Coast Suns. Senior coach John Longmire has confirmed his final 22 with Sam Wicks to return.

The club will celebrate two milestones this Sunday which coincides with Redkite Day, supporting children and their families affected by cancer. If you are in a position to, please support the incredible work Redkite does and donate HERE.

Brodie Grundy will run out in his 200th career game having made his debut for Collingwood in 2013 while also playey 17 games at Melbourne before joining Sydney this season.

Meanwhile up-and-coming tall forward Logan McDonald will play his 50th career game after he was recruited to the Swans in the 2020 AFL Draft. The 22-year-old has been a key target up forward this season booting 11 majors in five games.

Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, John Longmire said the bye has afforded the team an opportunity to refresh and improve their game ahead of tough home clash.

“We gave the boys a couple of days off after the West Coast game and then we got back into training last week, and made sure we sharpened up,” he said.

“We have a great test to see how those things go against a team in great form.”

Taylor Adams will play his second game for Sydney, his first in Swans colours at the SCG, after his club debut in Round 4 in Adelaide. The midfielder worked hard to return to play after a knee injury sustained in the preseason and provides a much-needed injection of experience to the young team. Experienced trio Callum Mills, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe remain sidelined.

Longmire said the team will need to bring the pressure early against a strong Gold Coast Suns outfit now under the leadership of Damian Hardwick.

“Their pressure numbers are high, all their defensive numbers are really high,” Longmire added.

“It's a great test for us and we've got to make sure we're on the game and we look forward to playing a really good team in form here at the SCG.”
