It's difficult to pinpoint the key driving force behind the Sydney Swans' avalanche win against Richmond.

There are usually so many positives in a victory amounting to 113 points.

One may consider Lance Franklin's seven-goal haul as the most influential, with the star forward converting from short and long range.

Or the fact the Sydney Swans reaped the rewards of a combined 16 goals from Franklin, Ben MGlynn (five goals) and Gary Rohan (four goals).

Or even isolate Josh Kennedy, who was again at his brilliant best with 37 disposals (19 contested), eight clearances and two goals.

Asked what Kennedy considered the key motivator behind the Swans' biggest win since 2013 was the carrot of finals football: "I think, what's ahead of us."

"We wanted to keep the foot on the pedal and keep the good habits and good form going leading into finals which is just upon us.

"It’s an exciting time and hopefully we can carry the form in.”

In a strong all-round team performance, the form of Franklin - who kicked his biggest individual haul of the season – stood out as did the contributions of pressure forwards McGlynn and Rohan.

McGlynn in particular worked extremely hard up and down the ground to gather 20 disposals and finish with his biggest individual tally since 2010.

And each one of Rohan's 12 touches turned to gold with his explosiveness and goal sense on full display.

“We all know what Gary brings, he’s a real X-factor for us so hopefully he can really take some confidence into the finals series," Kennedy added.

“Benny has been under pressure over the last few weeks, or basically the whole year, so to come out and play his best footy this time of the year is fantastic.

“As long as they’re putting pressure down in the forward line, goals are cherries on top, as long as the other stuff comes first.”

The Sydney Swans will now take a week’s break before focusing on the first qualifying final against GWS at ANZ Stadium.

Hawthorn's thrilling win over Collingwood on Sunday afternoon ultimately shaped who and where the Swans play in the September 10 derby.
