The AFL wishes to advise it has invited two former greats of the Sydney Swans and the Western Bulldogs respectively, to be the presenter of the 2016 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup to the winning club.

Since 2004, the AFL has asked a former great of the winning team to be on hand to present the premiership cup, and is delighted that Brownlow Medallists Peter Bedford and John Schultz have accepted the AFL’s offer for this week’s Grand Final.

Sydney Swans – Peter Bedford. Peter, 69, played 178 games for South Melbourne between 1968-76 and 13 games for Victoria, being named as ruck rover in the club’s team of the century. He was best and fairest in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1975, winning the 1970 Brownlow Medal. He was the club’s leading goalkicker in 1971, 1972 and 1973 and captain from 1973-76 and inducted to the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1999. He also played eight games for Carlton in 1977-78.

Western Bulldogs – John Schultz. John, 78 on Wednesday, played 188 games for Footscray between 1958-68 and 24 games for Victoria, being named in the back pocket as second ruckman in the club’s team of the century. He was best and fairest in 1960, 1962, 1964, 1965 and 1966, winning the 1960 Brownlow Medal. He was All Australian at the 1961 Carnival and was an inaugural inductee to the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
