In a breakthrough season for Zak Jones as the young defender stepped up to play an important role across half back.

Starting the season in strong form Jones was struck down with an ankle injury in Round 17 against Hawthorn.

He would return to the senior team in the Preliminary Final after overcoming a concussion suffered in the NEAFL Grand Final going on to play a pivotal role in the Swans surge into the Grand Final.

Jones had 22 disposals including 15 rebounds from 50 in the Preliminary final win over Geelong at the MCG.

The 21-year-old’s best game came against Melbourne in Round 13 when he collected a career high 25 disposals and eight tackles from the half back flank.

His ferocity at the football in and around the contest as well as ability to provide spread and run make him a vital asset to the Swans defensive stocks.

In his own words
"There were plenty of times that I didn’t know if I was going to get back but I had the right support around me here at the Club. There are a lot of things to work on, my fitness and running to keep improving each year so I hope to get better and be able to play better.” – Zak Jones on SwansTV
